Dal Palak



1 tbsp oil

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 cup tomatoes

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tsp Coriander powder

2 curry leaves

1 stp chili powder

1 tbsp butter

1 ⅓ cup shredded spinach leaves

1 ½ cup cooked Dal – 4 tbsp and 2 tbsp Moong dal

A tsp of salt




Heat oil and add cumin seeds, curry leaves and tomatoes. Allow to cook for 3-4 minutes.


Once tomato is cooked, add in garlic paste, green chillies, garam masala, coriander powder, red chili powder and cook for a couple of minutes. Add a tablespoon of butter and mix until well incorporated with the spices. Next, add finely chopped spinach leaves until cooked.


Add boiled dal and season with salt.


Cover the pan and bring the dal to a simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat.


Server with rice, fulaka, roti or chapati.
